Spring, Summer & Fall bookings are closed for 2025 until we see how many sites we will have open for opening of Spring 2025. We are working diligently to get most of the campground open for guests that have reserved a site for 2025. Once we have the logistics handled, we will open bookings.

Mountain River Family Campground is nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains beside the beautiful North Toe River in Western North Carolina. As a family owned campground, native to the area, we aim to provide a relaxed camping experience with your loved ones where you can make memories that last a lifetime. Located directly on the North Toe River, it is sure to be a trout fisherman’s paradise. We are an easy getaway from the daily hustle and bustle and we would love for you and your family to join us!

THEN 2017: This is us! When it all started. In August 2017, 3 generations of our family made a commitment to go into business together. Our goal was to provide the best campground experience possible for our campers. As natives to the area, we feel that our hearts are invested in making sure you experience the best of our beautiful mountains.

NOW 2023: This is us! Who you’ll see on a daily basis at the campground. We pour our hearts into this place to make it a memorable & relaxing camping experience for you and your family. We do it all. From running the Camp Store/Office, to landscaping, cleaning bathrooms, you name it - we do it! And that’s how we like it. We feel that a family owned business should be operated by the family!

“I just wanted to say thank you for having such a beautiful place! This was our first time staying at your campground and overall our fifth time camping in our travel trailer since purchasing it last September. It was so nice seeing children running round, being kids. It was special to have so many fellow dog owners and meeting them as they walked by. The bathrooms were sparkling clean, the grounds beautifully landscaped, the people friendly, and my doggie has tagged you and a few of the food trucks on her Instagram page. We had a great time!

“We wanted you to know we were delighted at our stay with you. This was an AAA+ stay for us. No negatives. We loved that trout season just started, beautiful blue skies, except temp was pretty low on Friday night, fishing on the pond, strolls around the grounds, Mountain View’s, well kept and maintained, fun hammocks, corn hole and sweet seating around the pond, fire pits and new picnic tables. You are doing everything right. We will be back. We have recommended this little piece of heaven to our group, Renegade Owners on fb! Just FYI! Again, thank you for a much needed respite!

“We are first time RVers and your campground was our 2nd stop. While we don’t have history for comparison, it’s clear that you take great care to provide first class facilities. The hookups were pristine, the grounds kept well and perhaps most surprisingly, your restrooms are some of the cleanest and nicest I’ve seen in 68 years of using such facilities in restaurants, hotels, etc.

“We were looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains. After lots of looking around, we decided to make a reservation at Mountain River Family Campground. We loved it! It is perfectly located within a short drive to many attractions in the area. The sites are large and all are full hookup! The covered pavilion in the middle of the campground is a wonderful place to hang out and meet some fellow campers. Its close proximity to the fenced in playground allows the parents to relax in comfort while the kids play. The bathhouse was probably the cleanest and nicest I have found in a campground yet! I highly recommend Mountain River Family Campground!”
